Self-help books don’t always work

Knowing something and experiencing something is completely different.

I have not just one client, not two, but more than 80% of my clients come in with some form of self-help knowledge (some of them have read many psychology & self-help books and watched countless youtube videos)

In their head, they roughly know what needs to be done, what’s the “right” thing to do.

“Stop dwelling on mistakes. Move on.”

”Start speaking up in meetings.”

”Focus on what’s within my control”

“Accept myself, don’t compare with others”

Yet, they get stuck in the same cycle.

During coaching, after experiencing certain practices, there’s often a look of relief followed by some disbelief

“But.. I knew this. I read this and I heard about this many times. Yet, I feel so..different. I just never felt this way or see it this way.”

Indeed, this is knowledge that’s not new to their mind, yet so new to their body and emotions.

Just like no matter how detailed the description is, reading about how delicious a bowl of ramen is different from tasting the richness of thick ramen soup.

You cannot just learn with your mind.

You need to experience.

Not just once, but experience it again and again through practice.

This is why just printing out affirmations or scrolling through Instagram motivational quotes doesn’t create deep shifts within you.

Reading about the benefits of meditation and experiencing meditation are different

Reading about being kind to yourself, and experiencing kindness is different.

Reading about self-acceptance, and practicing self-acceptance of your emotions is different.

You do not need to read up on more tools and techniques to fix you.

You need a space to experience what you may already know in you.

I trust in the gold within you.

I trust in the inner wisdom within you.

Continue to listen to podcasts, and read books. They all help.

AND find someone that can support you to experience and apply the practices.

Don’t let what you already knew hold you back from getting the support.

As I serve more and more clients, the more I believe that you do not need to be fixed.

You need space to be witnessed – your light and your darkness.

You need space to be heard – your dreams and your fears.

You need space to slow down – so that you can hear what’s whispering within

You have all the answers in you.

How would a baby know to cry and ask for food or to be carried? No one taught the baby.

There is an innate drive to be free from suffering.

Given enough space to be witnessed fully, you will blossom.
