Where are you in your Book?
if your life is a book, what kind of genre will you be?
Are you an adventure book, a self-help book, a finance book, a romantic book, or a science fiction?
What is the main theme of your book?
Are you at the beginning of your chapters or are you in the middle of your book?
What role are you playing in your book right now?
.
.
Pausing to reflect upon these questions has been extremely helpful for me to put my life and choices into perspective.
It’s so easy to get sucked into being busy and pushed by the flow of what’s happening to us, and around us.
Sometimes, I am living as though I am at the last few pages of my book and that I have no room to slow down or make wrong decisions.
That’s when I noticed my view had narrowed significantly.
It constricts me.
I forget that hey, there are still many blank pages that are awaiting me to write on,
There’s time.
I can keep writing the chapters the way I like it.
I become brave when I remember this.
I have less fear of missing out when I remember this.

When you stop and reflect – you can look at this book that you’re having and ask yourself –
How do I like my story so far?
Where would I like to see my story go from here?
.
.
Different chapters may require different versions of you to lead the story.
Some chapters require you to charge forward.
Some chapters require you to slow down.
If you could label your current chapter, what would it be?
What version of you does this chapter of your life need?
What’s most important in this chapter?
.
.
There are many questions in today’s writing.
I am in a reflective mode myself :)
If you allow yourself to sit with these questions and answer them,
You will instantly have more clarity for yourself.
You no longer need to compare with others and wonder if you’re doing it right.
Your book is different.
Your chapter is different.
I know it sounds really cliché to say that we are the author of our lives but in many ways, it’s true.
We will never be able to control everything that happens in our lives and yes, we have to surrender.
At the same time, we can still play a part in deciding how we want our characters to respond to these different chapters.
In this way, life becomes an adventure, not a math solution with one absolute answer.

If you’re reading my book, I am entering the chapter where my character is going through a shift in pace, working purposefully yet not fully accelerating because she has chosen to prioritize family plans at the moment. Lots more cooking these days.
I wonder – what is your character doing?
If you’d like, do write back and share with me. I would love to hear from your book and your chapter.
