Holiday is not your ultimate answer

Have you been looking forward to your next holiday?

You work very, very hard, and at times, you feel like you’re near to burnout.

“It’s okay,” you tell yourself. “I will reward myself with an amazing holiday soon.”

Then you continued to work hard and shove down any dissatisfaction or unhappiness. You have a tolerance tank and you are hanging in there.

“Just a little bit more”

Here, I invite you to pause.

Do you see this cycle of burnout – recharge – burnout – recharge - burnout happening?

Going on a holiday helps us to recharge. It’s a very important break that I encourage anyone to take.

However, I must remind you that the holiday is a break from your daily grind. It doesn’t take away your anxiety, worries, and insecurities magically.

The holiday gives you a temporary pause from feeling all these.

When you return to your “real” life, you are faced with them again.

Of course, after the holiday, your feel that you have emptied your tolerance tank and you feel that you can take more “shit”.

You come back ready to face the challenges and quite quickly, you feel the tank starting to fill up and you start to feel the old feelings again.

What if there’s a way to not pause or temporarily shelf our problems?

What if we can look at the source of our worries, and our insecurities and address it?

What if we don’t have to run away but can move forward?

The dress you just bought on your holiday is going to “spark joy” for a moment. Perhaps 1 week, 1 month, or 1 year.

What is truly sustainable is not something outside of us. It’s within us.

Don’t run away. Don’t sweep it under the carpet.

You are the greatest asset in your life.

You are the vessel to earn the next promotion, grow the business, and build meaningful relationships

If you can move beyond your self-doubt and insecurities, you can take action toward goals that truly fulfill you from within.

If you can understand and learn how to cope with your anxiety or negative emotions, you will be able to process these effectively and not feel so overwhelmed that you feel like “running away”.

When you go on a holiday, you do so because you want to, not because you need to. You can truly rest and recharge and look forward to being back to take steps toward your goal instead of dreading the start of work.

If you are clear about your values and what’s truly important to you, you live it daily and let it shine from within.

You no longer feel the need to “reward” yourself for the suffering that you’re going through. You will “reward” yourself for the fulfillment in doing what matters most.

I knew that no fashion pieces would give me lasting joy and peace within.

I knew that no holiday would give me lasting freedom.

It is the freedom within that accompanies me every day that matters.

The freedom of not judging myself.

The freedom to not let my emotions drown me out.

The freedom of not letting others affect my mood and self-esteem.

The freedom of courageously pursuing what matters most to me.

The freedom to love deeply without being too attached.

This freedom is priceless.

This freedom is priceless yet it comes with a price.

It comes with the price of you investing money in your own growth.

It comes with the price of you trying to change your unhelpful thought patterns.

It comes with the price of being willing to let go of what’s no longer serving you, even if it feels scary.

It comes with the price of building a support system that will support you in this journey.

It comes with the price of you believing that change is possible.

So if you are still using the band-aid approach to address your emotional turbulence, stop that.

What is it that you are not facing in your life right now?

What will truly help you break through?

If you are willing to be really honest with yourself, that is already the brave first step.

Don’t stop there.

Get support to address these challenges.

Be it courses, seminars, coaching or counselling.

If you are spending on trips that give you wonderful pictures and amazing memories, allow yourself to also invest in yourself to start transforming your life from the inside out.

You are worth investing in. You matter.
